German police land substantial blow against large Warez download site

On Wednesday the public prosecutor’s office in Görlitz in eastern Germany was obviously quite successful in striking a massive blow against the organized “Warez” scene. In a number of German federal states the police searched private residences and commercial establishments of persons alleged to be associated with the running of the web site bockwurst.dl.am. There cracked and at time commercial user software, such as for instance Microsoft Office, was offered for direct download. In response to an enquiry by heise online the public prosecutor’s office confirmed that searches had taken place but “so as not to jeopardize the investigation” declined to provide further information.
